The Philadelphia Phillies named Peter Fatse hitting coach on Tuesday, filling the vacancy created when Kevin Long was dismissed following the season.

Fatse arrives from the Tampa Bay Rays, where he started as hitting consultant in June. His prior experience includes five seasons with the Boston Red Sox as hitting coach from 2022 to 2026.

"I am very excited to add Pete to our staff," manager Don Mattingly said.

Joe Cronin will join Edwar Gonzalez, who is staying in his position, among the assistant hitting coaches.

The Phillies qualified for the postseason for the fifth straight year before falling to the Atlanta Braves in the National League Wild Card Series.
