The Pittsburgh Pirates have signed outfielder Kyler Fedko to a two-year Minor League contract, upgrading the Gibsonia native from a previous short-term deal with the organization.
Fedko, 27, is currently rehabilitating a torn ACL and MCL and is expected to return around February. The Minnesota Twins selected him in the 12th round of the 2021 draft before designating him for assignment in September.
The Vicentian Academy and University of Connecticut product posted a .274 batting average with 17 home runs and 54 RBI for St. Paul. He previously combined for 28 home runs and 82 combined RBI in double and triple-A. Fedko received one brief call-up last season, going 0-for-16 at the plate.
McCandless is home to Vicentian Academy, where Fedko played prior to his collegiate career.
