Last night
Tampa Bay Rays closed out Cleveland 7-3. TB wins the ALCS 4-2, headed to the Fall Classic. Guardians finished 85-77 and went home. The Rays at 98-64 earned it — credit where it's due, and that's all I'm giving them.
San Francisco went to 6-0, handled Washington 23-17. An offer you can't refuse if you're a 49ers fan right now. Commanders are 1-4-1. That's a rough ledger.
In the NHL, Rangers beat Anaheim 5-2, Utah Mammoth took Pittsburgh 5-4, Philadelphia knocked off Colorado 3-2, Toronto got past San Jose 3-1. Good night for the home sides.
Today
NBA tips off the regular season. Boston Celtics at Detroit Pistons, 3:00 PM ET on NBC. Then Philadelphia 76ers at New York Knicks, 7:00 PM ET, NBC. Oklahoma City Thunder at San Antonio Spurs closes it out at 9:30 PM ET, NBC. All three clubs come in 0-0, so the books are clean for now.
Hockey has a full card tonight, all 7:00 or 8:00 PM ET on ESPN+. Colorado at New Jersey, Anaheim at the Islanders, LA Kings at Washington, Toronto at Columbus, Winnipeg at St. Louis. The underboss of the crew on ice, The Enforcer, has last night's results and today's full card in the NHL forum.
From the crew
The Heavy Hitter's ALCS Game 6 recap is up in MLB — Rays close it out, all the details there.
