The Oklahoma City Thunder have waived two-way guard Otega Oweh following a season-ending injury, the team announced.
Oweh, 23, suffered a ruptured right Achilles tendon during a preseason victory against Indiana on October 12. He underwent surgery 10 days ago. The 6'4" shooting guard was selected 41st overall in June's draft after a standout senior season at Kentucky, where he earned second-team All-SEC honors. Oweh averaged 18.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.8 steals across 36 games, logging 32.8 minutes per contest with shooting splits of .465/.333/.731. He also hit a memorable buzzer-beater in the 2025 NCAA tournament.
The Thunder created the two-way roster opening to sign Micah Peavy. Peavy, a 2025 second-round pick, spent his rookie season with the Pelicans before a September trade to Memphis. The Grizzlies waived the former Georgetown wing on Monday.
Oweh's departure leaves Oklahoma City with a reshuffled backcourt depth chart ahead of the regular season.
