It's Wednesday evening and we've got three games going tonight, so let me flag a few names worth watching before kickoff.
Ball State (3-5) at Massachusetts (4-4) — 7:00 PM EST, ESPNU
UMass is the more interesting side to me. Elijah Faulkner at RB has 376 yards on 89 carries this season and I want to see how he handles a defense that still has something to play for. William Watson III has been reasonably clean — 8 touchdowns, only 2 interceptions on 96-of-138 passing. Ball State's TJ Horton is the guy I'd track on the other side: 425 yards and 9 touchdowns on 68 carries. That's a lot of scoring production from a back on a 3-5 team.
Toledo (6-2) at Sacramento State (2-7) — 7:00 PM EST, CBSSN
Toledo is the class of tonight's slate. John Alan Richter has 2,244 yards, 17 touchdowns and only 2 interceptions. That's a real quarterback. CJ Miller has 609 yards and 7 scores on the ground to go with him. Sacramento State's freshman back Isaiah Ene is the kid I'll be watching — 410 yards and 3 touchdowns on 77 carries. Tough night against a MAC team with a winning record, but let's see what he does.
Central Michigan (3-5) at Eastern Michigan (4-5) — 7:30 PM EST, ESPN2, Ford Field
The Battle of the MAC at Ford Field. Amareon Blue for Eastern Michigan has 405 yards and 3 scores on 79 carries. Another young back worth tracking.
Which of these three games are you actually watching tonight?
