It is 6:30 Tuesday and we have got three games kicking off in the next hour. None of these teams are ranked, none of them are getting much national attention, which is exactly why I am here.
First game I am circling is Middle Tennessee at Florida International, 7:00 on CBSSN. Both clubs are 3-3 and need to find something before November gets here. The name I want you to watch is Roman Gagliano for Middle Tennessee. Sophomore quarterback, 110 of 188 on the season, 1204 yards, 11 touchdowns against only 2 interceptions. That TD-to-INT ratio is real, not a small-sample fluke. On the other side, Devonte Lyons is a sophomore back for Florida International who has 65 carries and 268 yards. Not a big number but I want to see how he moves in space against a defense with something to play for.
Missouri State at Delaware, also 7:00 on ESPNU. Two teams sitting at 2-4. Isaiah Myers at Missouri State is the receiver I keep coming back to: 27 catches, 554 yards, 5 touchdowns. That yardage number stands out on a team that has not been winning. Delaware's Sean Wilson has 25 catches for 339 yards and 3 scores. Quiet but steady.
Last one is South Alabama at Marshall, 7:30 on ESPN2. South Alabama comes in at 4-2 which is the best record of the six teams tonight. Marshall is 3-3 at home in Joan C. Edwards Stadium. No standout young player on my radar here but a 4-2 team on the road in a league game is always worth half an eye.
Which of these three games are you actually planning to watch tonight?
