Last night
NBA opened its doors and the Boston Celtics walked into Detroit and got handled, 121-113. Pistons at 1-0, Celtics at 0-1. That's a bum start for the champs and I don't want to hear excuses. Philly went into the Garden and took the Knicks, 106-100. OKC closed the night beating San Antonio 116-104. Three openers, three road teams won. Make of that what you will.
On the ice, the big lug of the night was the LA Kings squad — 1-4-2 on the season — walking into Washington and putting up 5 on a Capitals team sitting at 5-4-0. Toronto dropped 6 on Columbus. New Jersey held off Colorado 4-3. San Jose edged Montreal 4-3 in OT. Islanders and St. Louis each took care of business at home.
Tonight
NBA has a full slate kicking off at 7:00 PM ET. Hawks at Magic, Bucks at Wizards (MNMT), Timberwolves at Heat at 7:30 on ESPN, Bulls at Raptors, Hornets at Nets, Jazz at Grizzlies at 8:00. Most of these teams haven't played yet so the books are wide open — 19+, virtual money only, free to join.
NHL: Flyers (2-6-3) at Buffalo at 7:30 on TNT/truTV. Florida Panthers (5-2-2) at Ottawa (6-3-0) at 7:30 on ESPN+.
